A Bloomingburg man admitted yesterday that he traded Internet videos and pictures of young children having sex, swapping the pornography with people he met in online chat rooms.
Eugene Greco, 44, was convicted in 1998 for molesting a 14-year-old boy in Ulster County. Greco lived in Pine Bush at the time. For that crime, he was designated a Level 2 sex offender, at moderate risk to commit a new crime.
Greco admitted yesterday in Sullivan County Court that he would sign on to chat rooms on Yahoo, MSN and High5, pretending to be a teenage boy. He traded pornographic videos and pictures – most of them showing young boys involved in sexual acts – with people he met in the chat rooms.
Greco pleaded guilty to first-degree promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child.
One of the people he met was actually a Keene, N.H., detective working undercover in the chat rooms. On July 23, Greco sent the undercover officer a child-porn video. On Sept. 6, Sullivan County sheriff’s deputies raided Greco’s home, seizing more than 100 CDs of child -porn videos and photos. In exchange for his guilty plea, Greco is expected to receive a prison sentence of six to 12 years. He’ll be sentenced April 24.

Assistant District Attorney Karen Mannino said Greco's computer shows that he'd been trading files since 2001.
